John Edwards Campaign Hijinks

Wow, this is low even for a politician. If you sent a get well card through John Edwards' website to his cancer stricken wife, good for you, that shows you have heart for another human being. What that also does is put your email address on a master list and you then get a solicitation for a campaign contribution.

Edwards' Deputy Campaign Manager confirms it: "Nobody gets an e-mail from us without explicitly agreeing to receive e-mails." I've seen some low stuff before, but this ranks up towards the top. Had John Edwards' campaign wanted to do solicitations, there is no problem putting at the end of the card, "if you would like to contribute towards the campaign, click here and you may do so." That way a person is given a CHOICE on if they want to contribute or not, rather than having to deal with spam in their inbox.
