There's conflicting reports on whether or not we were supervising the kidnapping, but what's funny is that Iran is complaining that if we were responsible for it, we're violating international law. One Iraqi government official says that the kidnapping was done by an Iraq unit that reports to the US military. Lt. Col. Christopher Garver has said that we weren't involved. Well, supporting the insurgency violates international law, but I don't hear them adhering to it. Additionally, if the diplomat was supporting insurgents in any way, shape, or form, he's violating international law as well. But you won't hear the Iranians talk about that.
