How I'm Voting, Part 2

Now, onto the Governor's race!

I'm voting for Dino Rossi and I'll tell you why.

First off, he lost the race to Christine by an extremely thin margin.  Since then, Christine has done nothing but shit on members of the law enforcement community (I have an excellent source inside the police community) and with what she's pulled against them, I'm not even going to consider her for the vote.

For example, when something goes wrong in law enforcement, such as an officer getting killed, she doesn't bother to blame the shooter, she's fired people.

She's promised salary increases, only to take them away by either not giving them entirely, or raising their medical premiums to the point where it's actually resulted in a lower paycheck for officers.

There's simply no room for someone who has contempt for police officers to be in a position of power.

So, I'm voting for Rossi:

Governors in other states are controlling spending - but not here. While we tighten our belts, state government spends more money and faces a growing $2.5 billion deficit. The incumbent’s only answer: more tax increases.

Dino Rossi is a businessman. He’ll watch our tax dollars like a hawk and cut waste, because the answer to Washington’s challenges is not always to spend more tax money, but to spend our money wisely.

Washingtonians must be safe. The state government does not know the location of over 1300 convicted sex offenders who are loose in our cities and neighborhoods. Dino will end early release for violent offenders from prison. Dino will require the close and constant monitoring of sex offenders who have served their sentence.

Other Governors are reforming education and helping prepare students for global competition. More money is spent in education each year here, but is it spent effectively to give our children what they need to be competitive in life? Dino Rossi will replace the WASL with America’s best standardized test and require students to pass a fair and rigorous test. The incumbent still supports the failed WASL test with no math and science requirement.

Other states are making progress fixing traffic congestion. Dino Rossi has a specific plan to fix nine major traffic chokepoints without new taxes and complete transportation projects on time. Here, the incumbent raised gas taxes to the nation’s highest but commute times just get longer, and many critical transportation projects are still being studied by “blue ribbon” committees on a drawing board.

Even Christine Gregoire's summary shows her incompetence:

When I took office we had a 2.2 billion dollar deficit and one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.

So, when she took office, Washington State was $2.2 billion in the hole.  Now, after her term's up, we are now, according to Dino, $2.5 billion in the hole.  If true, that means that Christine managed to squander 300 million dollars.  There's 6.4 million people in Washington state according to the census bureau.  You do the math.

I need someone who'll treat officers who bust their asses 365 days a year, including Christmas, to get proper paychecks and get what they've been promised.  I also need someone who's fiscally responsible with my money.  If someone who's fiscally responsible is in the Governor's chair, I fail to see how this can't be accomplished.

Christine had her chance and blew it.  Now it's Dino's turn.  Besides, how can you not vote for a guy who's name is synonymous with the Flintstones?
