Obama to GOP: 'Lay off my wife'

Barack Obama sent a direct message to the Tennessee Republican Party on Monday: “Lay off my wife.”

In an interview with Good Morning America, Michelle and Barack Obama responded to the Web video unveiled last week attacking Michelle Obama’s comment earlier this year saying she was proud of America "for the first time in my adult life."

"The GOP, should I be the nominee, can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record," Obama said on Monday. "If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.
"

Barack, let me explain something to you. In politics, if someone is making speeches, campaigning for someone, and generally showing support, that means that they are fair game to attack. It's about credibility, and when you say that she can campaign for you, but no one can criticize her, that's hypocrisy.

So do tell, why "should they be careful"? What do you plan on doing about it? She put herself out there, made some semi anti-American comments, and now you're pissed because people are calling her on it? That's bullshit. If McCain's wife did the same thing, you'd be all over it and liberals wouldn't care at all. The fact that it's being done to their "Messiah" is just making them mad because they think it hurts your chances to be President.

Personally, I don't give a shit about Michelle's opinions about America or world affairs. That's her business. But I DO care that she has the ear of someone who will directly effect my life if you are elected.
