Dems Plead With Bush on Iraq

Democratic leaders told President Bush on Friday that it's not too late to change course in Iraq and pleaded with him not to hand the war off to the next president.

"We believe there is still time for you to recognize that a change in strategy is necessary to repair the grave damage done to our nation's security," the Democrats wrote.

And who was it signed by?

The letter was signed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, and Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois.

Those are some of the biggest outspoken critics of the war, and yet, they are basically begging the President to finish up before the next President comes into power?

In other words, they don't want to have any kind of responsibility for it, but they want to be able to say they did something about it.

For example:

If Obama wins, he'll have to deal with it, and these Congress members are worried he isn't up for the job.  Even one of his staffers is saying that he won't be able to end the war as quickly as he'd like.  80,000 troops in Iraq until 2010.  That's a lot longer then his previous statements.

If Hillary wins, she's already dug in her heels about the war in Iraq.

If McCain wins....well we all know what happens if McCain wins.

It just reeks of "please fix this so we don't have to".  Sorry Pelosi, Reid, and other idiots, it IS your job to fix these things.  You promised to end the war in Iraq when elected.  That was a year and a half ago and you've accomplished NOTHING.

You're especially antsy with the upcoming report by General Petraeus, which is why Nancy Pelosi "warned" him about glossing over Iraq.  Even though things are starting to pick up.

So unless you plan on growing a spine, you're going to have to keep showing your true colors:  Yellow.
