Racism Of Some Obama Supporters

I had an inkling a few months back about some of Obama's supporters.  I began to wonder if they were voting for him because of his principles or simply for the reason that he is black.

Now, even elected officials are showing out and out racism on the issue:

In an interview, Cleaver offered a glimpse of private conversations.

He said Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois had recently asked him "if it comes down to the last day and you're the only superdelegate. … Do you want to go down in history as the one to prevent a black from winning the White House?

"I told him I'd think about it," Cleaver concluded.Jesse_Jackson_Jr,_official_109th_Congressional_photo

Jackson, an Obama supporter, confirmed the conversation, and said the dilemma may pose a career risk for some black politicians.

Who gives a shit if Obama is black?  Can you imagine the firestorm that would erupt if a politician said "Do you want to go down in history as the one to prevent a white from winning the White House?"

There would be CNN trucks on the guy's front lawn within hours.  His phone would be ringing off the hook, and Al Sharpton would lead the march and demand an apology.

Yet, Jesse Jackson Jr., God, who's surprised that the name Jesse Jackson is in the same sentence as racist statements, has said these things, yet no one has called him out on it.  It's the same thing when his father called New York "Hymietown".

I guess the racist fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

The entire article reeks of racism:

"Nobody could see this" in advance, Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, the highest-ranking black in Congress, said of Obama's emergence. He is officially neutral in the race, but expressed his irritation earlier in the year with remarks that Clinton and her husband the former president had made about civil rights history.

One black supporter of Clinton, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri, said he remains committed to her. "There's nothing going on right now that would cause me to" change, he said.

Why mention that these two are black at all?  Why not just mention "Representative Jim Clyburn" and leave it at that?  Race comes up constantly in this article, and yet, a great big yawn.

When was the last time you saw a television program on "White Entertainment Television", or sent your child to college on the "United Caucasian College Fund", or any other blatantly exclusive organizations?

You haven't because they would deem you racist, and they would completely ignore the hypocrisy.

I'm not asking for an "apology" like you'd see Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton ask for.  I'm asking for equal footing for everyone and treat people as equals.  That includes blacks, whites, Jews, Hispanics, gay folks, and more.

"We hold these truths to be self evident, that ALL men (and women) are created equal."
