If you're connected on the Internet in the very least, you've no doubt heard of Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul. The man's face is everywhere. Youtube videos like this one are a dime a dozen and if you went by what people on the net were saying, you'd think Ron Paul was so unbelievably ahead in the polls, that we might as well give him the Presidency and not even bother with having an election.
But yet, according to polls, he's constantly placing in 5th place or worse. In fact, a recent Gallup poll puts Ron Paul with only 4% of the vote.
With videos like this on Youtube by the thousands, it makes one think what's the discrepancy. The only thing I can see is that most young people on the Internet are registered Democrats and haven't bothered to take a part of these polls.
Which is something to be said in that Ron Paul may not get the nomination because of the low poll numbers. However, there is talk of Ron Paul running as an independent candidate. If he does, he certainly would be more likely to get my vote over say Rudy Giuliani or definitely Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama IF the allegations of racism and other troubling parts of his personality are found to be false.
So what do you all think? Do you think Ron Paul has a shot? He certainly has the experience and the wisdom of American history. But is that enough? Democrats and Republicans on the Internet seem to like him, and if anyone can "unite" the American people, Dr. Paul certainly has appeared to do just that in the virtual world. Can he do it in the real one?
