Iranians threatened U.S. ships in Hormuz: Pentagon | Reuters

The Iranians are going to learn a very dangerous lesson if they don't get their
act together
.

Five Iranian boats made aggressive maneuvers and showed hostile intent towards three U.S. Navy ships at the weekend in the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping route in the Gulf, the Pentagon said on Monday.

The Pentagon said the incident was serious. It described the Iranian actions as "careless, reckless and potentially hostile" and said Tehran should provide an explanation.

In Tehran, the Iranian foreign ministry described the incident as ordinary.

"The example that happened on Saturday was similar to previous cases and is an ordinary and natural issue," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told Iran's official IRNA news agency.

The Pentagon said that in the incident early Sunday, five small Iranian boats repeatedly "charged" U.S. warships in the Gulf's Hormuz Strait and dropped boxes in the water. The boats warned the U.S. ships that they would set up "explosions," a U.S. Defense Department official said.

I don't know about you, but to see a US warship and mistake it for a threat is one thing when you are miles away from it, but these boats got within 200 yards of Naval vessels.

You simply cannot make a mistake at 200 yards when you are staring down a US Navy ship.  It's simple bullshit on the Iranians part.

For them to downplay it makes me think they are trying to probe the responses of our ships defense systems.

Of course, the Iranians are all innocent people according to the idiots over at the democratic underground.

One thing you never want to do or try is to get into a naval battle with the US.  We have multiple, redundant defense systems, coupled with the latest in weaponry.

Now, is it possible for the Iranians to have made a mistake?  Sure, I suppose in some kind of fucked up, fantasy world, that's possible.  But if it happens again, I say open fire and let the Iranians know not to get that close to a US vessel again.  We all remember what happened with the USS Cole, and I don't give a shit what our boys in blue do to defend themselves and their ships.  If it helps them defend a threat, I'm all for it.
