But let's not blame her! It's all Bush's and Republican's fault!
Not surprisingly, Pelosi said President Bush and his Republican allies are mostly to blame. She noted that Bush has vetoed Democratic-led efforts to wind down the war, expand a children's health program and broaden stem cell research.
We're not going to leave the Iraqi's hanging when they need our help the most. Doing so would make them enemies if they were overrun and slaughtered by the thousands.
Bush had said that he was willing to give the SCHIP program a 20% raise in budget instead of Democrat's 140% raise that they were looking for, but instead they decided to make a scene about it and not bother to negotiate.
A 20% increase in any budget is massive, to ask for almost 1 1/2 times a budget increase is bordering on idiocy. But Democrats wanted to use this as a "see! I told you Bush was evil!" and a lot of dumb people fell for it.
Pelosi is simply trying to deflect from her own failings as a leader in Congress. Real leaders negotiate and try to come up with a compromise that benefits both sides of the argument. Instead, they tried to dig in their heels and say "my way or no way" and they got neither.
Grow up Pelosi, you're just as much to blame for Congress' complete failure as anyone else. In fact, I'd blame you more simply because of all the political campaign promises you made that you have failed to achieve. Even promises that are completely within your control such as Congress' 5 day work week and the "most open and honest Congress in history", as well as getting rid of the "culture of corruption" while promoting a suspected corrupt member of your own party have placed the failure of this Congress squarely in your lap.
