Protests Come At A Price

I was on my way to bed, when I ran across this story. The "God Hates Fags" folks who protest soldier's funerals have lost a lawsuit and have been ordered to pay $11 million dollars.

Privacy at such things does mean something and if you invade someone's privacy like that, it can cost you dearly.

That being said, if they were protesting on public property, I really have a hard time seeing that this won't get overturned on appeal. As much as I despise them, they do have a right to protest. Of course, certain key facts are left out of the story, such as where they were, what was said, and other critical facts about the case.

If they were on public property and they weren't interfering with anyone going to or from the funeral (very unlikely, as I've seen video of them purposefully invading people's privacy), then they would have a strong argument.

Personally, if it was my family member's funeral and they were protesting, I don't know how I'd react. Maybe I'd say some angry words, maybe someone would eat a fist. But I at least know enough about myself to tell someone "What you are doing is endangering your safety. I could snap and bad things might happen".
