Good Lord everyone wants to get their collective panties in an uproar over something as trivial as a confederate flag in one garage in a separate building where Cheney goes hunting.
Of course, professional "I'm offended" guy Al Sharpton is calling for all sorts of stuff he knows he won't get:
Sharpton demanded Cheney distance himself from the exclusive club where the Stars and Bars was flown, and said he might hold a prayer vigil there.
"This is an outrage - he ought to leave immediately," Sharpton told The News. "He ought to apologize to the American people for being there in the first place."
But here lies the difference:
Cheney spokeswoman Lee Anne McBride said Cheney did not know anything about the controversy.
"The VP did not see the flag and neither did anyone on staff," said McBride.
Why should Cheney apologize for something he didn't know about? Better yet, when is Al Sharpton going to apologize for the entire Tawana Brawley case? Al Sharpton made inflammatory statements about an innocent man calling him a rapist. However, when it was found that the story was concocted, he refused to apologize.
So until that happens, Al Sharpton has zero credibility in asking for apologies from anyone.
Besides, it's not like it was being flown in front of the building. It was probably put up by a mechanic for whatever reason, racist or not, and not officially sanctioned by the management at the club.
You can argue that it's a symbol of racism or not, but to ask the Vice President to apologize for something he has no control or knowledge of is idiocy, and Al Sharpton knows it.
Attention whore.
