Mattel apologizes to China for toy recalls | Reuters

Hey China, we at Mattel are really sorry about the whole "recall thing".  We wouldn't want to sully the reputation that China enjoys for manufacturing high quality items at low prices while respecting human rights.....Ha!  Almost said that with a straight face.

"Mattel takes full responsibility for these recalls and apologizes personally to you, the Chinese people and all of our customers who received the toys."

Debrowski said he realized the damage that had been done to the reputation of Chinese goods, adding the company was committed to manufacturing in China and was also investing $30 million in a Barbie store in Shanghai.

In other words:  "Please accept our apology because we don't want to be forced to move manufacturing to another country and raise prices for 10 cents worth of plastic".

The funny thing is that China is touting this about as if everything else in the whole Chinese made items recalls mean nothing.  Perhaps it was a design flaw done by Mattel, but when you keep reading about Chinese made items including baby cribs being recalled because they've actually KILLED CHILDREN it's a bigger problem then simple design flaws.  It's the Chinese cutting corners or hiring incompetent people and it effects people's lives directly.
