Hooray For Affirmative Action!

When you put race/creed/color/religion above qualifications for a job, you have a time bomb waiting to happen. Incompetence will be rampant, charges of discrimination will happen, lawsuits will be filed. Well the state of Massachusetts is no different.

More then half of their minority job applicants failed the written portion of the test. Of course, there's those bleeding heart types who feel bad for those who don't make the grade:

"One of the fallouts which is particularly upsetting in our experience across the colleges is fewer and fewer students of color are even going into teaching because word has gotten out that these tests are very difficult for them," she said.

"Difficult for them"? What about the 24% of the white folks who didn't pass the test? Are you going feel sorry for them too?

Some deans of education schools are raising questions about whether the lower results among minority applicants shows the tests are culturally biased and whether the quality of education that minority applicants receive is good enough.

Some minority applicants say the tests includes questions that white applicants and those with liberal arts backgrounds can more readily identify with, such as questions about ancient literature or investing in the stock market.

Look, if you can't pass the test, then you're not good enough to be a teacher. Period. Regardless of who you are, if you can't pass the test, you don't teach.

Then after you hire people who can't pass these tests, you have crappy teachers. Then everyone loves to bitch and complain about the quality of public education. Either stop going on with the affirmative action crap, or have crappy teachers. You can't put people who aren't qualified into the job and expect them to be brilliant teachers, it just doesn't happen.

And I don't really care if the people who fail are black, white, Hispanic, or any other color in the rainbow. If you can't pass the test, I don't want you teaching my children.
