Gun Control Advocates Have A Problem.

Britain in 1997 imposed a ban on handguns entirely. Since that time, violent crimes involving handguns doubled. So that begs several questions. Gun control advocates like to point to America as a violent tendencies nation and keep pointing out that other nations have a much lower rate of crime when guns are strictly enforced or banned outright. So, if you're a gun control advocate, explain the British situation to me??

The simple fact is that if you ban handguns, only criminals will have them. I now have a 5 day waiting period to purchase any weapon that I try to get. Fair enough. It's only fair that you find out if I'm a criminal or a mental patient. However, after you've found that out, I should have the right to purchase any weapon I want, including automatic weapons. Before you start calling me a gun nut (which isn't quite accurate, but I'll humor you), point to me in the Second Amendment of the Constitution where it says that you even need to check to see if I'm a criminal or a mental patient. I'll save you some time, it doesn't.

It just says that Congress shall not pass a law forbidding the rights of the citizens to bear arms. Don't bother asking me why I "need a gun like that", it's not your business. It has nothing to do with "need" and everything to do with my rights to own a weapon.

It would be the same thing if I asked you why you "need to protest" or "need to say those things" or "need to practice that religion". All those things are protected rights that you enjoy as a citizen of the United States, and it's not my business how you exercise those rights, just like it's not your business how I exercise my Second Amendment rights.
