I fail to see his logic here. Maybe someone can help me understand it. We decimated the Iraqi military within months. We removed a brutal dictator from power. We freed a nation from tyranny. We removed a known threat who was planning terrorist attacks on our soil. We brought terrorists to Iraq rather than New York or any other US city. We removed a man who was in possession of WMD's regardless of what liberals will have you believe.
The problem is that liberals don't want to see any of these things. People automatically assumed that we were going to open up a warehouse filled to the rafters with sarin and VX gas. Saddam was very concerned with his place in history and if we had found WMD's in quantity, it would confirm everyone's suspicions. So he hid them. We simply haven't found all of them. The UN has stated that Saddam has had weapons that were not accounted for, so where did they go? Iraq is a very large place, so it's not inconceivable that he hid them and we simply will find them months, years, or even decades after the fact.
But that's not good enough for Harry Reid. He wants a "nintendo" war. He wants things to be in a nice, clean package. He wants war to be over with and everyone to be happy and live in fantasy land. He doesn't want to look at hard statistics showing that the increase in troops is pushing deaths down significantly across the country. He doesn't want you all to see that Bush was right.
He even has the nerve to point out similarities to the Vietnam war. That's fine, let's continue with those similarities. Democrats undermined troops, cut funding, and were responsible for a loss of morale.
Who better to point that out then a guy who was in BOTH wars, Lieutenant Colonel Joe Repya and his now infamous speech "I'm tired." Even Lt. Col. Repya can see the hypocracy and half truths coming out of Democrats.
The truth is, is that the Iraq war was won YEARS ago. Nation building isn't something that the military normally does, so yes, mistakes will be made, but don't bullshit me and tell me that you "support the troops" while you undermine their sacrifices and say that the war is "lost" when it isn't. Doing so basically tells them that everything they fought and died for was for nothing.
Just because you didn't get your way with the White House, doesn't mean you get to throw your hands up and call it quits. Children do that, not leaders in Congress. So grow up, and get over it.
