If the FBI doesn't move swiftly to correct the mistakes and problems revealed in the report, "you probably won't have NSL authority," said Rep. Dan Lungren, R-California, a supporter of the power, referring to the data requests by their initials.
"From the attorney general on down, you should be ashamed of yourself," said Rep. Darrell Issa, R-California. "We stretched to try to give you the tools necessary to make America safe, and it is very, very clear that you've abused that trust."
An internal investigation showed that the FBI abused these new powers frequently. While I agree the the FBI and all law enforcement personnel need tools such as these to fight a tough battle against crime and terrorism, abusing the privacy rights of innocent American's cannot be tolerated and should be prosecuted if criminal activity upon the FBI's part is found. It's a simple matter of making this country continue along the path that was set out over 200 years ago. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.Travis
