So, the guy would rather bolt and live out his life in America then Iraq? Well DUH. Who wouldn't want to live here? Everyone loves to complain about how America is becoming a "police state" and how everything is going to the shitter. But, obviously given the choice, this guy decides he wants to stay here, or maybe bolt for Mexico.
Yes, the guy does need to return and help his fellow Iraqi's, but who wouldn't want to live in the land that gave the world:
