"No Spank" Law

Well look what we have here. A California Democrat wants to outlaw spanking against children under 3. (big surprise). While I personally believe that children under 3 don't understand why they are being spanked and therefore shouldn't be spanked, it's not my business to tell another parent how to raise their child. It's not the governments business either. I was spanked as a child and I grew up to be a productive member of society.

People are getting to become too hands off with their kids (bad pun I know) and allowing their children to run wild. A healthy swat on the ass let's the kids know who's boss and what's acceptable behavior. You could even run into religious obstacles, "spare the rod and spoil the child".

Parents are responsible for their children up until the age of 18. If the child breaks something, the parents are responsible for paying for it. So if you want to hold a parent responsible, you have to allow them to discipline their child how they see fit.

"Experts in child psychology disagree over whether spanking is a legitimate or effective way for parents to discipline their children. Professor Robert Larzelere, who has studied child discipline for 30 years, said his research shows spanking is fine, as long as it's used sparingly and doesn't escalate to abuse.

``If it's used in a limited way,'' the Oklahoma State University professor said, ``it can be more effective than almost any other type of punishment.'' He added that children 18 months old or younger shouldn't be spanked at all, because they can't understand why it's happening."

I've spanked children that weren't even my own. Nieces, nephews, cousins, have all seen their asses spanked when they were getting out of line when their parents weren't around. Just because mom and dad aren't here, doesn't give you free reign to do things that they don't approve of.

Children who aren't spanked tend to grow up to be whiners, sissies, and just plain brats. How many times have you seen a child in public that's acting wildly and the parent does nothing about it? That child won't learn what acceptable behavior is until they run into an authority figure won't take their bullshit, usually a cop.

I'll bet you this girl was never spanked a day in her life.
