Well I'm glad to have been proven wrong. I'm glad the mainstream media picked up on John Kerry's comments and ran with it. I'm also glad that John Kerry is trying to blame everyone else but himself and then in the same tone, blame him "misspeaking" on a "botched joke". Perhaps John Kerry does think it's funny to take every bit of bad news out of Iraq and make a joke about it. I don't think it's particularly funny, but he does have a constitutional right to say it. I just have to keep telling myself that. His comments have pissed me off. Sorry about that. :)
There's a very popular left wing blog called Daily Kos and in it, the author had this to say: "Kerry has nothing to apologize for. The people who have turned their backs on the troops do. And even though this ridiculousness will lead the evening news, fact is, we should embrace the opportunity to remind Americans how Republicans rally to the "troops" defense only when it suits their own cynical political ends."
He's correct. John Kerry has nothing to apologize for. John Kerry meant those words he said and if that's how you truly feel, why should you apologize? Perhaps Republicans rally to the troops defense only when it suits are needs? Well if that's true, then why did John Kerry vote against a bill that would fund better body armor for our troops when it was found out that such a need existed, but Republicans voted for it? Then on top of that, John Kerry likes to point out that "we sent our troops in harms way ill equipped"
Karl Rove couldn't have asked for a better quote from any Democrat, but to have it from John Kerry, a prominent Democrat, so close to election time, could end up costing Democrats dearly. Thanks for that Freudian slip letting us all know how you feel about the military and everyone in it John.
