I think Barack is pretty close when he says: "China is rising and it's not going away," said the senator from Illinois. "They're neither our enemy nor our friend. They're competitors."
However, I tend to disagree with they aren't an enemy. An enemy is one who spies on you, tries to undermine you at every turn, smiles at you when they are sticking a knife in your back, and basically does whatever it takes to make sure they are better then you.
Just take a look at some of China's past actions: Titan Rain, threatening to undermine our economy, actively keeping their currency artificially low, espionage against our military computer systems, actively stalking our Navy boats, the list goes on and one. So it shouldn't surprise anyone that China isn't exactly high on my list of supportive nations.
With the very latest Chinese made goods being recalled and people starting to realize that China cuts corners that effects quality, sooner or later, you'll see a trade embargo or a public backlash against Chinese made goods before you'll see them actually make decent items. If that comes to be, you'll see a mass exodus from China by foreign manufacturers to other countries.
