US Financial Restrictions Hurting NK

Good. It's about time that people around the world find out what it means to get nasty with the US. They've tried to counterfeit our currency to undermine it's value and they need to understand that that type of behavior isn't going to be tolerated.

Iran and Syria might even be there. While it is a good step towards establishing a good solid peace within Iraq, I'm more concerned with Iran's involvement with the insurgency. I wonder if Baghdad will mention this at the summit. Time will tell.

Vets Stand Guard Over Vietnam Memorial

This can only get ugly. So there's going to be a rally against the war in Iraq from a radical left wing group and Vietnam veterans are afraid that the Vietnam memorial could be vandalized like the Capitol building was a short while ago. Apparently, Jane Fonda might be there as well. I can tell you that Vietnam veterans HATE her with all of their being. If she is there and they are going to be there, you can bet that there'll be riot police there. I can't say I blame the veterans on this one, just look at what she did.

This would be the same as if Angelina Jolie (for lack of a better celebrity) decided to go hang out with Al-Qaeda members or members of Moqtada al-Sadr's militia. That's the level of hatred that would be leveled upon her in todays terms. It's been almost 40 years since Vietnam and there was recently a veteran who went to her book signing and spit in her face. Treason knows no time limits.

So my suggestion to the upcoming protesters would be this: Keep your hands off of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. It would be a desecration to those who served our country and put you in danger of angry veterans who would be completely in the right for whipping your ass.

Hypocracy Of Certain Muslims

So I've been following this off and on again for a bit now, but I decided to post about it because of the ridiculous statements made lately. For those of you who don't know, in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, there are some Muslim cab drivers who refuse to transport people that are carrying alcohol because it's against their religion. Now they are pissed because the Airport Commission is telling them they need to serve everyone equally. A normal, rational response.

Now the cab drivers are claiming that the airport people are being discriminatory in now allowing them to discriminate.

"Our stance is first come, first served," said airport director Steve Wareham. "The message is if you want to drive a taxicab at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, you will serve all customers."

That is something I would have totally expected. Kudos to Mr. Wareham for letting them know that they need to serve all customers. But then it gets weird.

Last year, the MAC received a fatwa, or religious edict, from the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society. The fatwa said that "Islamic jurisprudence" prohibits taxi drivers from carrying passengers with alcohol "because it involves cooperating in sin according to Islam."

You can issue all the fatwa's you want, but the Metropolitan Airport Commission isn't going to listen to them because A) They aren't your religion, B) they have to follow the laws of this nation, which means that they can't discriminate against the general public, and C) because they don't want to have to deal with angry customers whom they've pissed off.

They aren't being denied freedom of religion, they can practice that at home all they want. But when they come to work, it's the employer who makes the rules and if you don't like them, you can find a job elsewhere.

Freedom of religion isn't something that you're supposed to get catered to throughout your day. This is America, where ALL religions MUST coexist peacefully. What the cab drivers are missing the point on is that their customers don't have to cater to their religious needs because the cab drivers don't have to cater to the customers religious needs.

If you want us to respect your religion, stop trying to force it down the throats of people who don't believe in your religion. That goes for ALL religions, not just Muslims.

Pelosi Think's Bush's Thinking "Impaired"

Well Nancy, let's hear your grand ideas on Iraq. We're all waiting. I didn't think so. It's easy to complain and Monday morning quarterback things, it's quite another to come up with ideas and try to avoid mistakes that cost people their lives. All I've heard her say is that she wants the troops out of Iraq now and that her and Democrats have threatened to cut funds for additional troops. She knows damned good and well that neither of those solutions are real solutions and are only being brought up to quiet down her fanatical core constituency.

Democrats Having Problems With Iraq

So it appears now that the Democrats are now backing off the whole "let's cut off funding" route they wanted to take and now just want "explanations." I think someone within the Democratic party told everyone else the truth "if we cut off funding in any way, we'll get slaughtered in the public eye". That's the problem, they don't want to do what they believe in, they want to do what will keep them in power. That's a dangerous thing to have. That's the same thing as having to keep your eye on the fox when he's near the chicken coop. He'll tell you that he'll be good, but when you turn your back, you have feathers everywhere.

A question posed to the judge by the jury in the CIA leak trial was recanted when the figured out the answer. Hopefully, we'll have a verdict soon.

Jordan Queen Rania Speaks Against Militants

While I applaud her for her words, unfortunately, women's voices in the Middle East aren't given the weight that they properly need. Even though she's royalty, many people, even non militants, will simply think "she's a woman, what does she know". But every word she says is true. Islamic militants and CAIR are giving Muslims a bad name and the issue needs to be addressed. I think the first thing that needs to be addressed is the fact that in schools across the Middle East, children are taught to hate non Muslim people. Stop this at the source and you'll have less militancy.

Bin Laden In Pakistan

So Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell, has come out and point blank said "Bin Laden is in Pakistan". There's no "he might be", or "we think". It's "we know". This leads me to wonder what evidence they have of this. While I would fully support special forces going in and capturing or killing any Al-Qaeda members in any country, we need to be absolutely sure that he's there, otherwise it may upset a delicate relationship that we have with countries that are helping us. While they can always do more to help us, a little help is better then no help. The recent meeting with the Pakistani President from CIA guys leads me to believe that the trail has gotten hot again and that we need to act now.

While they may have the technical ability, they certainly don't have the stupidity of launching against us. North Korea is a starving nation that is trying to bully it's way to the top of the food chain, and it's not working out very well. With Japan and China already pissed at them for their nuclear tests and the missile test over Japanese territory, North Korea will be hard pressed if they think they can bully their way again.

Execution Style Killings Severely Down In Iraq

Hmm, I wonder why this isn't getting the press it deserves in the mainstream media? Granted, it's only been 3 weeks, but there's been a significant drop in the amount of bloodshed in Iraq. However, if there was an equal spike in the number of killings, expect that to be splashed across the front page of CNN.

A Real War Criminal

When Democrats talk about soldiers, one of the first things they like to do is point out war crimes. Yes, war crimes do happen, but Democrats are calling current soldiers war criminals and such, regardless of if they are or are not. Our soldiers take care of prisoners of war better then any other country on earth, and yet, all you hear about is Abu Ghraib and other relatively minor offenses. So, I decided I would show everyone, Democrats included, what a REAL war criminal is like. The only war crime I can think of off of the top of my head is the rape and murder of the 14 year old girl and her family that even comes close to what this guy did. This guy cut off limbs, ripped out beating hearts of still living people, and tortured people in the most gruesome way. So when you decide you want to start throwing around the "war crimes" accusation, be sure you know what a real war crime is.

What I want to know is, are they going to throw this guy in jail for what he did? Time may heal all wounds, but there's no statute of limitations for war crimes.

Democrats Falling Apart Over Iraq

I thought this might happen, but I didn't think it would happen so soon. Their core constituents are wanting the Iraq over now, and Democrats are having a hard time navigating that political minefield.

Even the moveon.org people are pissed: "The public is saying, 'We hired you to get out of Iraq -- now figure it out,"' said Tom Matzzie, Washington director of the anti-war group MoveOn.org. "There is a risk that without action, frustration boils over into anger."

Now all Republicans need to do is keep a level head and keep the attention focused on the issues instead of calling names and such, which is what Bush is already doing: "I do not believe that someone is unpatriotic if they don't agree with my point of view. On the other hand, I think it's important for people to understand the consequences of not giving our troops the resources necessary to do the job," Bush said.

Fireworks are coming, it's just a matter of time before who blows up first.

Iran Targeting New York?

While it may be true, I don't think the Iranians are that stupid. To attack a civilian target would turn world opinion against them and unleash the American publics wrath, thus allowing Bush to destroy Iran. Everyone likes to talk about how we don't have the resources to invade Iran. We don't have to invade. We only have to destroy, which we have more than enough capability to do. We don't have to worry about nation building, getting electricity, food, water up and running, or any of the other things that we worry about in Iraq.

Pakistani President Shown CIA Evidence

It's sad that this even has to happen. The guy needs to be shown that there are still Al-Qaeda in his country. I can understand his point of view: he's not very popular, and if it were shown that he did have Al-Qaeda in his country, he'd be in a bit of trouble. What I don't understand is why he doesn't say: "You guys can send special forces in to look and extract or kill Al-Qaeda and Taliban remnants, but if you're caught, I'll have to play it angry."

That way he can deny it to his countrymen, but still be helpful. I don't know if he's done that yet though or not, but it would explain why we give him praise in the fight against terrorists.

The Evidence Mounts

So we've found a large weapons cache with tons of Iranian made parts and explosives again. How much more evidence is needed to show that Iran is involved in some way, shape or form with the insurgency in Iraq? We're not going to find a "smoking gun" that says that this came from the top of the Iranian government, even if it did. We need to trace exactly what factory they came from and put some surveillance on the place and find out who's leading this deadly charade.

Travis
travis@rightwinglunatic.com

Federal Conceal Bill

This one I can actually get behind. It allows me to carry my weapon, concealed, across state lines as long as I have a proper concealed weapons license from my home state. This would mean that if I drive from Idaho to California, I can't be arrested in Oregon because I don't have an Oregon concealed license. It means that I'm a normal, law abiding citizen and that a technicality won't put me in jail.

Sometimes you wonder what the hell Congress is thinking about certain bills, then they turn around and come up with something that makes perfect sense. It's like they are throwing darts and every once in a while, they hit something right.

Assault Weapons Ban - Part 2

So, I've posted about this before, but I just got done reading the text of the bill that Rep. McCarthy about reintroducing the Assault Weapons ban and it just pisses me off to no end. What she aims to do is criminalize guns that are completely legal now and outlaw me from purchasing guns that are legal right this second. Let me explain something, and I want to be perfectly clear: Assault weapons account for such an insignificant portion of crime, it's almost immeasurable.

Do you think that a person who's a criminal is going to care that what he buys on the black market is legal or not? It doesn't make a difference and will only cost law abiding citizens time and money and is only being done to further the political career of Rep. McCarthy.

She also wants to define these weapons as "A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."

So the AR-15 that I LEGALLY own would then become illegal if I ever decide to sell it. It would also allow the Attorney General, a man whom has already questioned Constitutional rights, to ban any gun he sees fit that is not "sporting". They have "grandfathered" in provisions that would make my current ownership legal, but any transfer would be illegal.

This is a blatant attempt by some nutjob who thinks that she can encroach on the Second Amendment rights of law abiding American citizens and it must be stopped immediately.

Take note, do you know the reason why this country has never had a full scale invasion by any foreign nation? An armed populace. We have the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment makes no mention of any restrictions on the types of weapons or even who can own such weapons.

The first Assault Weapons ban did ZERO to prevent crime and only made prices of existing pre-ban weapons skyrocket, costing law abiding gun collectors thousands of dollars.

So I was going over the monthly site statistics and I was surprised to find that one of my most popular posts was one I did almost two months ago. Then I find out why: One of my users submitted that article to Digg.com. I guess I'm getting more popular by the day. :)

What I find neat is I'm not only becoming more popular as a whole, but I'm becoming popular in areas where I wouldn't think a site like mine would be popular: College campuses. Normally college campuses are very liberal and would hate a site like mine. Maybe that's why I'm popular? Are they using my site as an example as "what's wrong with America"? Soldier Gets Creative

So Al-Qaeda in Iraq and insurgents have been widely using the Internet for propaganda and to scare people all over the world. Now, a soldier, presumably a US soldier, is doing the same thing. He's showing, in Arabic and English, that he dips his bullets in spam, a pork product, and will use them to shoot terrorists. He's using a known weakness in Islamic terrorists for his own benefit. Very creative. Bravo. I wonder if there are other soldiers doing the same thing.

Israel Conducts Nuke Attack Drills

Israel is taking the Iranian nuclear threat seriously enough to warrant a nuclear attack drill. This ought to tell everyone how dire the situation is with Iran's nuclear program. Israel's spy agency, Mossad, is considered one of the best in the world, and if Israel wants to take the time, money, and energy to conduct drills like this, it may suggest that Mossad knows what Iran is really up to.

Iran Nuclear Talks May Lead To More Sanctions

So Iran has painted themselves into a corner and given Russia and China, their two top allies, no real choice in setting sanctions against them for their continued defiance in the nuclear issue. There is no real illusion that Iran has stopped enrichment of uranium and looks at the UN with disgust. The only issue now is how much is it going to cost Iran? That's what world powers are meeting about as we speak.

I think this is issue is going to cost President Ahmadinejad very dearly. Europe is considering reducing or eliminating subsidies that Iranian businesses have depended on for a while and that will create dissent among business leaders who will see their pockets shrink considerably. Is Iran willing to pay a tremendous economic penalty so that they can "create electricity"?

What I think is happening now is that Russia and China are working with Iran to find a way that allows Iran to back off of the nuclear deal but still save face in the eyes of the Iranian public and on the international stage. Iran simply can't afford to have further sanctions placed upon them and they are simply being stubborn about it and are not looking at the larger picture.

Reporter Claims US Planning Iranian Attack

I think this is a bit of posturing on both sides of the fence here. Yes, we do have a second aircraft carrier group in the region to show that we're not messing around. Yes, we do have contingency plans for attacks on Iran, but we also have those plans for every other country on earth, including friends like Canada and Britain. If military planners weren't planning for attacks in Iran, I'd be worried and pissed. That's their job.

We'd all like to have the Iranian nuclear issue resolved without a shot being fired, but you can't have diplomacy without the threat of force. Otherwise you're just asking nicely and there are people in the world who don't do nice things just because they want to.

Did James Cameron Find Jesus' Tomb?

Titanic director James Cameron is claiming that he has found the tomb of Jesus Christ and that it proves that Jesus had gotten married and fathered a child. Of course, there's people who think it's a load of crap, but if true, this could shake the Christian faith to it's core. There's plenty of evidence that Jesus was indeed a real historical figure, but the question is: Did he rise from the grave like is widely believed? Did he father a child? If so, does that bloodline continue to this day? It raises many questions that would alter the ways of the Christian faith.

While I'm not an overly religious guy, I'm also a scientific geek as well, and I would love to see what Mr. Cameron has to show us. I have to see it, touch it, feel it, for me to believe in it. I'm going to this with an open mind.

What's odd is that if you had said some things about the Muslim faith that contradicted their core beliefs, I wonder if there would be protests and threats of violence against others. They tend to get real pissy if you even draw a cartoon about their prophet Muhammad.

Pakistan Warned About Al-Qaeda Regrouping

Vice President Cheney has visited Pakistani President Musharraf and asked that he push harder against remote, tribal areas to flush out Al-Qaeda remnants. There's intelligence pointing towards an offensive that should begin shortly, and we need to head it off before it happens. The NY Times has also claimed that "Bush has decided to send a tough message to Musharraf, warning him that the Democrat-controlled Congress may cut off money to Pakistan unless it gets more aggressive in hunting down al Qaeda and Taliban operatives in its country."

I agree that Pakistan should push harder and that we should work together for a two pronged attack and flush out any remaining Al-Qaeda and Taliban members. This has gone on long enough and there needs to be some Al-Qaeda heads shipped back to the US in a FedEx box.

I think that Pakistan will start to realize that we are getting a bit impatient about Al-Qaeda and Taliban members in Pakistan. Pakistan has their own problems with India and with our help, India now has nuclear technology that allows them to defend themselves from the Pakistani threat. We can help stave off that threat, but we're going to need a bit of an incentive to do so....Say Al-Qaeda leadership on a silver platter? That would do nicely.

Liberal Students Don't Like Dissent

So when a film comes out that criticizes radical Islam, it gets protesters? Why? The film didn't criticize normal Islam, just the radical elements in it. Yet, there's always going to be someone who gets their panties all twisted up about it. They say that the film could spur hate crimes against Muslims. So what happens if there's a movie about Israel and how they "must die" and all other such nonsense. Would those same students protest that film?

You have to treat all groups of people equally is all I'm saying. If you don't protest all movies that could spur hate crimes, you can't expect people to take you seriously when you only protest one. Iran Blowing Smoke...And Gonna Get Slapped Back

So Iran has come out and said that the US is in no position to start a war with Iran. While Iran may think that way, we don't need to be in a position to start a war with Iran. Israel already is making preparations. So unless Iran gets it's collective head out of the sand soon, they may be on the receiving end of an Israeli airstrike.

Let's not forget that Israel has one of the most advanced military's and intelligence gathering operations in the world. There's a reason why people are rightfully nervous. Black market documents that point towards a nuclear weapon, dual purpose equipment, failure to have UN weapons inspectors verify that their nuclear program is peaceful, throwing away chances to have nuclear fuel enriched off site that cannot be weaponized, etc.

Policies

Many of you have written to me and have some questions, so I thought I would do a quick rundown of how I run things.

I read every email and reply as soon as possible. Sometimes that means I won't reply for a day or two, but I do get to them all.

Your privacy is of the utmost concern. I don't give out email addresses to anyone, and I don't keep your email address. Once I have emailed you a reply, I delete the old email. I have gotten a lot of hate mail as well, I reply to those as well and they fall under the same email policies. No one besides you and I will know your address unless permission is given by both of us.

I don't delete posts under 99% of the circumstances. If you want to debate my personal beliefs and call names and act like a 12 year old, I'm ok with that. However, threats, or any illegal activities will be deleted and if severe enough, reported to the authorities. For example: If you call me a prick and say I'm full of shit, that's fair game. If you threaten that you're going to harm another person or elected official, regardless of political party, I have the moral and legal obligation to report you to the authorities. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Debate is healthy. Your beliefs may not jive with my beliefs, and that's ok. That's what makes America the greatest nation on earth. We have the right to say what we want to who we want about and subject we want. My family has been in this country since almost the beginning. This country is my home and I will defend it and support it until the day I die. I don't expect everyone to understand my position, but know that I'm always looking out for the best interests of this country and ALL of it citizens.

This is my blog. I try to be as absolutely fair about things, but the bottom line is that I'm the one responsible for this blog, so if you don't agree with what I say or do, use your First Amendment rights and go somewhere else. I can't stand whiners and won't change who I am, what I say, or what I do to appease them.

I call it like I see it. I will call a coward a coward, so if it hurts your feelings that I say something, speak up. I won't care, or change my statements, but I will debate you on the reasons why I reach my position. I will also call out people on "my" side of things. If I see a Republican doing wrong, I will point it out. Corruption, stances on issues, etc, will be spoken about. I will talk about issues that might offend you or you consider taboo: Sex, Religion, Politics, and more are all fair game.

Privacy is out the window when you're an elected official...to a degree. As an elected official, you are a public citizen and thus, don't have as much privacy as your ordinary citizen. Therefore, I will talk about things that can influence your decision making process. The fact that you may be gay, wear women's clothing, or cheat on your wife, means squat to me. The fact that you snort cocaine means much much more.

Well I hope that clears up a lot of the questions that you all have about me and this blog. Of course, I'm probably missing some things that you may want to know about, so you may freely email me anytime you'd like and I'll gladly answer any questions or concerns that you may have.

Blair Doesn't Want Iranian Strikes

While it is always advisable to go through diplomatic channels, it's very difficult to ignore evidence that Iran is seeking nuclear weapons, supporting terrorism, and supporting the insurgency in Iraq. What Prime Minister Blair fails to realize is that Britain and even the US don't have to do anything, just let Israel take care of it. I find it very troubling and a bit shady that Texas Governor Perry and 8 other politicians each received $5,000 campaign donations from drug giant Merck just a few days before they all pushed for mandatory vaccinations with a drug that Merck makes. It might be completely legal, but it surely doesn't sound ethical. That's not to say that the drug doesn't work and that it shouldn't be on the list of things that girls might want to have, but something like this puts a dark cloud over the issue.

But Cheney came back with: "My statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, is that we will validate the strategy of al Qaeda," Cheney said. "I said it, and I meant it."

Dirty Bomb Suspect - Incompetent?

Well of course he's going to claim that, there's a ton of evidence against him and he knows he's going to jail for a very long time. Plus, the doctor who examined him has one problem: During cross-examination, prosecutor John Shipley pointed to a test administered by Hegarty in which Padilla scored “zero” on the portions indicating post-traumatic stress disorder. Those segments involved questions about flashbacks, nightmares, depression and other symptoms.

“Nothing in this test supports your diagnosis at all, isn’t that correct?” Shipley asked.

“No,” Hegarty replied, noting that the test answers were only one component of her decision.

Seems like he's trying to weasel out of trouble if you ask me.

Plus, the report is from the UN, not the US, so no one can claim bias. Keep painting Iran, the corner is right behind you.

A World Without America

I didn't create it, but I agree with it. We've done more good in the world than most of the other world's countries combined. We give more aid, more medicine, more time, more defense to other countries than anyone else. Sure, it may sound like chest beating and others may resent us for it, but take a good hard look at the things we've done and tell me that any other country on earth would do the same if we weren't here. Russia? China? none of those countries would do what we do. China's fast becoming a major world economic power and what are they doing for foreign aid? Not nearly as much as we are. They aren't even doing as much as we are as a percentage of their GDP.

Democrats Got Their Feelings Hurt

So I guess they don't like it when people call it like it is. Vice President Dick Cheney, while agreeably not the most likable guy, stated: "I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the al-Qaida strategy," the vice president told ABC News. "The al-Qaida strategy is to break the will of the American people ... try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."

Of course Nancy Pelosi got her feelings all hurt and tried to contact Bush and complain. She was unsuccessful in reaching him. But this raises a more interesting point, does she have the right to be upset even though Cheney is telling the truth? Democrats have compared Bush to Hitler, slammed Republicans at every opportunity and yet, when some truth comes from Republicans, what do they do? They complain. You can't have it both ways Democrats, either you want "the truth" or you get the happy, sunshine version of events. The fact is that insurgents and Al-Qaeda want us to quit. They want to say "See, I told you that Americans were paper tigers. I told you that we can win."

As for Cheney's assertion that the partial British pullout is a sign that things are going well in Iraq, Pelosi said: "If it's going so well, we'd like to withdraw our troops as well." Well do we have soldiers in southern Iraq? The problem areas are Baghdad and a few outlying areas. Where there's no problems, there's no soldiers Nancy. Perhaps if you researched that and not told 1/2 truths Americans would trust Democrats more. There's a reason why Democrats have the reputation of being weak on terrorism and threats against the US.

Soldier Pleads Guilty

Paul E. Cortez has pleaded guilty to his role in the rape and murder of a 14 year old Iraqi girl and her family. Mr. Cortez has unfortunately brought shame and dishonor to his fellow soldiers and to his uniform. I say Mr. Cortez instead of Pfc. Cortez because he is being dishonorably discharged and does not deserve the title of any rank as a US soldier.

I'll be the first to defend a soldiers decision when it comes to taking a life. A split second is all you have to decide whether you want to fire upon a person. Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong. When you're wrong, it can tear at your soul, but it's completely understandable when it's a "you or me" situation. The rape and murder of a civilian family is not something that can be "understood". Unfortunately, Mr. Cortez decided with some of his fellow soldiers that they would do such an act. They will pay for that act for the rest of their lives, even if they eventually get released from prison.

Insurgents Adapting

Apparently, the recent toxic gas explosion that killed 6 people wasn't the first, it was just the biggest body count. So is this what Murtha was talking about when he said that if we leave, the Iraqi's will have the insurgents gone "the minute we leave"? I'm willing to bet that we have guys already in chemical plants taking a look around to find those responsible, but it is an effective way to spread terror to civilians.

Iranian Sanctions Looming

Iran has really backed itself into a corner and made it's allies have to make choices that will drive a wedge between them. The IAEA report is coming out soon, and there's no doubt that it will detail that the Iranian's nuclear program can't be found to be confirmed fully peaceful. Tougher sanctions must result in the UN. Otherwise, what's the point? The Chinese and the Russians will look weak on the international stage if they decide that they don't want to back tougher sanctions.

Iran has fully admitted that they haven't stopped enrichment, which was one of the requirements for the tougher sanctions that everyone agreed to. So, stand up and be responsible and impose those sanctions.

LA Times Outing CIA Operatives?

They do just about everything but name names. I would be very shocked if they weren't brought up on charges for this. For example:

In real life, the chief pilot is 52, drives a Toyota Previa minivan and keeps a collection of model trains in a glass display case near a large bubbling aquarium in his living room. Federal aviation records show he is rated to fly seven kinds of aircraft as long as he wears his glasses.

That narrows it down pretty significantly if you ask me. A simple search of the publicly available records will show you who this person is. Plus, what if the LA Times got this person wrong? They could be endangering the lives of 3 people and can get their butts royally sued for it. Is it another "Valerie Plame" case? Hard to say, but I will say that they are treading a very fine line that can lead to some serious criminal charges.

"It's not preppies, 'cause I'm a preppie myself. I just don't like homosexuals. If you ask me, they're all homosexuals in the Pudding. Hey, I was glad when that Pudding homosexual got killed in Philadelphia."
Mr. Franken, a 1973 graduate of Harvard, was referring to Harvard's Hasty Pudding theatrical club.
Those remarks were made back in 1976 when Mr. Franken, like former Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen and others, was a careless young man blurting insults that he now lives to regret.

We've all made stupid comments when we were younger, myself included. But if you plan on getting into public office, you'd better be much more squeaky clean then Franken. Plus, if hatred isn't in your heart, it doesn't matter what age you are, that hatred is there.

So the Federal budget is doing so well and is revenue is so strong, were it to continue in this way, we would have a surplus within a year.

Already, the federal deficit is shrinking toward about half the size that it has averaged since 1970, when analyzed as a percentage of gross domestic product.

Stand Your Ground

I can't believe that a law like this even needs to be put into place, especially in Texas. But it basically states if you feel threatened, you have the right to shoot first without having to retreat. What bothers me is that it is still theoretically possible for you to shoot someone legally, and then be arrested, searched, and then have the charges dropped eventually when it's found you were in the legal right. Now you have to deal with attorney fees, putting your things back after the police have confiscated them and more.

But this is Texas. Everyone has a gun. There shouldn't need to be a second thought on if someone shoots another legally. Yes, there are going to be cases where the question of legality comes into play, but once it's found out that you did it right, then you should be free to go, attorney fee's waived, and your guns returned to you if they were confiscated right away.

You notice we don't have as much trouble anymore on airlines? People know that there's an armed air marshall on the flight somewhere. Criminals don't like hard targets. They often will think twice if they know that someone in the room has a gun and will shoot back.

More Iranian Hot Air

Can any of these guys be trusted at all? First off, this unnamed official states that Iran doesn't want conflict and that they are offering: "is an Iranian pledge to refine uranium no higher than the 4-5 percent level, well below the 80 percent threshold needed for nuclear bombs."

What's to prevent them from ramping up the refinement process once world attention goes away? Why not use the equipment that can only be used for peaceful purposes? Why not have enrichment done in a neutral country so it can't be refined further? Why the talk of "showing of strength"?

You can't make a statement like "We do not want to have to prove that we are strong. Our nuclear program is not to show the U.S. we are strong. It is because of our previous centuries of threats and invasions," and honestly expect us to believe that you're only wanting electricity. It's bullshit and everyone knows it.

You want to be "natural allies"? Here's a small bullet list of things that need to happen, on our side and yours. First up, your side:

Stop support of terrorist organizations, including Hamas, Hizbollah, and others.

Stop supporting insurgents in Iraq.

Stop uranium enrichment at your nuclear plants and allow enrichment at an agreed upon neutral third countries location.

Stop naval exercises bent on provoking a military response.

Hand over all Al-Qaeda suspects currently in custody

Share intelligence on where Al-Qaeda suspects might be.

Stop the almost daily "Death To America" chants in mosques.

Stop teaching that children should be strapped with bombs and sent off into bakeries.

Stop teaching hate towards any group.

I'm sure I'm missing a few items, but those are the biggies.

Out list:

Support a true peace agreement with Israel and the Palestinians.

Tone down rhetoric about Iran.

Hand over any suspected militants bent against Iran (if any)

Open trade and normal relations

I'm sure there's more demands that Iran has, but until Iran stops those main arguments, they will always be looking over their shoulders wondering what we or the Israeli's might do.

The Left And Wars

While this story is about the Italian Prime Minister resigning, the very last comment paints a perfect portrait about those on the left and how they feel about war, any war, regardless of circumstances. But one leftist senator announced he would resign rather than vote for D'Alema's motion. "I am against the war in Afghanistan"

Nevermind the war in Afghanistan began when we were attacked first. Nevermind that it started because the Taliban wouldn't hand over Osama Bin Laden. Nevermind we had 3,000 people dead. It's this guy's personal beliefs that war is never justified, regardless of what happens. But he'll be the first to cry out for our help if someone else comes knocking on his door.

Of course, this will get politicized. Ted Kennedy is the first to seize upon this bit of news, but he fails to mention the fact that there's no real problems in southern Iraq, so there's no reason why the Iraqi's can't take over that section of the country and for British troops to start coming home. Let The Backtracking Begin

Oh how I love it when politicians start to backtrack on words they've said. Now John Edwards is backtracking on his recent comment of Israel bombing Iran is the biggest short term threat to world peace. Now he's stating, through his spokesman that the article was wrong and that Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon is the greatest threat.

This is classic "what he's really thinking". He said what he meant in the beginning and now with the minor backlash and the fierce competition that he's facing with other Democrats, they are now in damage control. Can you really trust what this guy can do for the country when it comes to threats, especially ones in the Middle East? Israel is our fiercest ally, and they are smack dab in the middle of people who hate us, so guess what might be a good idea John? How about not calling them the greatest short term threat to peace when they have every right to defend themselves from a nutjob trying to acquire nuclear weapons and has made direct threats?? Idiot.

Mt. Hood Climbers Don't Want To Be Responsible

I can't even believe this is really an issue. If you go mountain climbing, the responsible thing to do would be to carry an electronic beacon. There are actually people opposed to this. You can rent a GPS unit at the base of the mountain for less then $10. $10 and a cell call could have you extracted from trouble in only a few hours. This can and will save lives and money so that rescuers aren't combing over a rough terrain looking for you.

So if people are opposed to it, I have a solution: pay for the costs of your rescue. That would sober a lot of people up real quick. Rescues easily cost upwards of $50,000 or more. You have people's wages, helicopter maintenance, fuel, and other equipment and related costs. Simply have a law that states: if you're going mountain climbing, you must carry a GPS or electronic beacon. If you don't, you'll be required to pay for the rescue efforts. Simple as that.

Interesting Poll

So a new bi-partisan poll came out and it shows that Democrats are either exaggerating or are dead wrong on their position about troops in Iraq. An interesting statistic: only 17% said we should remove our troops immediately. 17%.

  • By a 53 percent - 46 percent margin, respondents surveyed said that Democrats are going too far, too fast in pressing the President to withdraw troops from Iraq.

  • By identical 57 percent - 41 percent margins, voters agreed with these statements: I support finishing the job in Iraq, that is, keeping the troops there until the Iraqi government can maintain control and provide security and the Iraqi war is a key part of the global war on terrorism.

  • Also, by a 56 percent - 43 percent margin, voters agreed that even if they have concerns about his war policies, Americans should stand behind the President in Iraq because we are at war.

  • While the survey shows voters believe (60 percent- 34 percent) that Iraq will never become a stable democracy, they still disagree that victory in Iraq (creating a young, but stable democracy and reducing the threat of terrorism at home) is no longer possible. Fifty-three percent say it's still possible, while 43 percent disagree.

  • By a wide 74 percent - 25 percent margin, voters disagree with the notion that "I don't really care what happens in Iraq after the U.S. leaves, I just want the troops brought home."

When asked which statement best describes their position on the Iraq War, voters are evenly divided (50 percent - 49 percent) between positions of "doing whatever it takes to restore order until the Iraqis can govern and provide security to their country," and positions that call for immediate withdrawal or a strict timetable.

  • 27 percent said "the Iraq war is the front line in the battle against terrorism and our troops should stay there and do whatever it takes to restore order until the Iraqis can govern and provide security to their country."

  • 23 percent said "while I don't agree that the U.S. should be in the war, our troops should stay there and do whatever it takes to restore order until the Iraqis can govern and provide security to their country."

  • 32 percent said "whether Iraq is stable or not, the U.S. should set and hold to a strict timetable for withdrawing troops."

  • 17 percent said "the U.S. should immediately withdraw its troops from Iraq."

  • Quite interesting. Makes you wonder what else the Democrats are trying to muster up.

You'll hear many people tout this as a defeat for Bush and America. Quite the opposite. We've said for a long time, "we will stand down when Iraqi's stand up". This is just a case of that happening. What insurgents don't realize is that if they stopped fighting, we'd have no reason to be there. Once the new Iraqi government is in place and security forces are ready to go, there's no reason for us to stay. But they don't see things long term, which is yet another reason why you'll see people comparing terrorist and Democratic views often, because most times, you'll see there are striking similarities.

    PTSD And Me

A very interesting article on how to treat soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I know of one particular soldier in my own personal life that was showing signs of PTSD when he came home on leave from Afghanistan. His wife, whom I worked with, was concerned about his behavior. She was also concerned about the time that he had back home was very short and that she wanted him to get counseling, but that would take longer then the time they had allowed. She was nervous he might get worse and that she had heard horror stories about soldiers who turn violent against their wives/girlfriends/children and didn't want that to happen to her.

So I came up with a novel approach. I told her to give him the 4 "warms" while he was at home. A warm bed, a warm shower, a warm meal, and a warm woman. All the creature comforts a man could ask for. Let him know what he's missing when he leaves so that he knows that he has something special to come home to. Now this isn't a "fix all" for everyone. There's going to be guy's who need real help, but I offered this solution to her as a temporary fix.

So, when he returned home, he found that he had a new set of comfortable sheets and comforter, the shower had all of the usual comforts, she made him a steak and potato dinner, and then she had sex with him. That was the first time they had any quality time like that together in over a year. I didn't expect her to do all of these things to the letter, but he came into my office the day after and said "What the hell did you tell my wife? She was an angel last night to me and then said you were responsible for it" I let him know that because of the talks I had had with him and her and his possible PTSD, that she should be a bit extra nice and told him of the 4 "warms". He had a smile on his face for the rest of the day.

He did let me know that he did have nightmares from time to time, but everyone does. I told him about how easy it is for things to get ugly if they argue, so take a step back if it ever came to that so things wouldn't get violent. He was extraordinarily happy that someone took the time to make sure that he was ok and that his home life was being looked after while he was gone. He asked me what he could do to repay me. My response: Bring back Bin Laden's head in a box. Capture or kill as many Al-Qaeda as possible. He's already doing more then enough to make sure that my family and I are safe from bad guys, the least I can do is make sure that his life is a happy one as well.

US Appeals Court On Military Tribunals

While they state that they no longer have jurisdiction over the matter, I do agree that we can't allow "enemy combatants" access to civilian courts. Here's why: Say we have a spy within Al-Qaeda's network that's detailing upcoming plots. If we were to try the detainees in civilian court, we would have to detail what intelligence we have and how we got it. While that's perfectly fine in regular criminal trials, it's quite different when it comes to terrorists.

The Geneva Conventions were designed to protect soldiers of sovereign nations from abuse and spelled out the rules of war between nations. When a person takes up arms against a nation and does not adhere to the Geneva Conventions, they are not protected by those same rights. For example, if you are a soldier with say, Brazil, you must wear a uniform that points you out as a member of the Brazilian military. (Sorry Brazil, nothing against, you, I just picked a random country). You must also not involve civilians. You cannot use religious grounds for a base of attacks or weapons storage or that becomes a legitimate military target. Al-Qaeda does none of these things. Therefore they are not protected by the Geneva Conventions. Sure, they do deserve to be free from "abuse", but that doesn't mean that their time spent in our custody needs to be comfortable or even observe religious differences. The fact that we even provide them with religiously sensitive meals shows we're doing a better job then most people think.

Make no mistake, these people will kill you and everyone around you if given the chance. There's even been people found on the battlefield after we've released them. So you'll have to excuse me if I could give a rats ass less about their "plight". When they start observing the Geneva Conventions, THEN they deserve to be protected by those rights.

    Charlie Daniels

I've never been much of a country music fan, but this guy nails it right on the head. He's stating what I have been for the past few months about Democrats and their bullshit, enemy aid ways. Hopefully, voters will see through this stuff that Democrats are trying to pull and vote them out at the next election. Here's the text of what he said:

An Open Letter to Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi

    Dear Sir and Madam,

You have said often enough that you don't believe in the war in Iraq and
that you want to bring the troops home. Yet all you do is talk and sign
non-binding resolutions which only goes to show that you really don't mean
what you say about ending the war or that you're just playing political
games and in doing so giving aid and comfort to a dedicated enemy.

Now if you're serious about ending the war you have the means and the votes to do just that. Simply cut off the funding for the troops, bring them all home and the American people can transfer the deed to this war and the
ramifications of what you do to the Democrat party and you can live with the results.

You say you support the troops, but that has to be a lie. If you supported
them and you truly think the war is wrong, you'd bring them home or either
dispense with the poisonous rhetoric and get in behind them and help them
    get the job done.

You can't have it both ways. If you support the troops do something. Your
party won a majority in both houses, so you have control so take the
    responsibility.

Of course, I think you should remember that when the terrorists follow us
home from Iraq and start their attacks on American soil it's too late, so
you'd better have a plan to deal with it. Do you have a plan?

And if Iran goes into Iraq and makes it a staging ground for Al Qaida to
plan and carry out attacks all over the western world you'll need to deal
with that. Do you have a plan?

And if Iran decides to go into Kuwait and cut off the oil flow from the
Persian Gulf, you'll need a way to make up for the shortfall. Do you have a
    plan?

The world would look at us as a country that has not finished a commitment to war since 1945. Do you have a plan for dealing with that?

The purpose of this letter is to call your bluff. I don't believe you have
the guts to do anything but talk and talk is cheap. Oh you have no shortage of words but I seriously doubt the amount of backbone you have.

Do you really think that signing a non binding resolution is really fooling
anybody into thinking you're anything less than career politicians trying to tip the scales of the O08 Presidential Election.

What you're doing is silly and dangerous. If you really don't like what's
going on, change it, do something about it. You've got the power but have
    you got the guts?

    Pray for our troops.

    What do you think?

    "Al-Qaeda Brainwashed Me"

Excuse me if I don't shed a tear for a guy who laughed when he described how it took two blows to behead a girl. He had to have known that his actions would lead to the deaths of innocent people. It's all bullshit meant to sway people from the real truth: that he's an Islamic militant who deserves to die for his crimes.

Children's Party Gets Parents In Tissy

News flash, it's not your fucking business. So a child likes watching the HBO special "Band Of Brothers" and wants to have a party based upon that? Where's the issue? There's a ton of people "outraged" by it, but they won't spank their kids when they get out of line. What I do like about it is the veterans who came and spoke about war and the children didn't seem interested in the gory parts of war, they just wanted to know about being a soldier. Children are more intelligent then we give them credit for, and for parents to be "outraged" tells me more about the parents then it does about their parenting skill.

Would those parents have a problem with a Barbie party? A Yu Gi Oh party? I doubt it.

    Car Bombs Rip Through Baghdad

You're going to have good times with bad, and unfortunately, 63 people had to die for the "bad" times. However, sooner or later the Iraqi people will start getting tired of this and start turning in terrorists or reporting suspicious activity more and more. It will take time, but mark my words, if Democrats don't get their way of pulling our guys out of there, we'll see a turn around.

    Putin And Russia

You know, Russian President Putin does like to blow a lot of hot air about how Russia is now going to become this great nation and everything will crumble around us if we don't be nice to them. For example:

Make no mistake, though. Putin delivered a message, and the White House heard it loud and clear. It goes something like this: in the 1990s, America pushed us around. On NATO expansion, we asked you to consider our national interests. You answered with an advance into former Soviet territory in Eastern Europe. You spoke of energy partnership yet built new pipelines to bypass our territory. Western companies took advantage of our economic troubles to buy access to our natural resources at cut-rate prices.

Well duh, it's called capitalism. We did speak of energy partnerships, and what do you do? You raise prices and blackmail eastern Europe by shutting off the supply of energy. Proves us right doesn't it?

We took advantage of your economic troubles? You could have said no to private companies when they approached you. You had the right to ask for higher prices, yet you didn't. You signed the contracts and now you have to live with them. It's the same as when you buy a house at a high interest rate. No one was putting a gun to your head when you signed the papers, so if you don't like the deal, tough.

Yes, they have their own problems with Chechen terrorists and I think we should help them with that problem, but if they think we have to be nice to them after all the badmouthing we get from them throughout the years, they should think again.

America is tired of being the whipping boy for the world's problems. It's time we made other countries deal with their own problems and let them feel what it's like to be without our help.

    Democratic Hypocracy And Corruption

Wow, I couldn't have asked for a better present. Ok, we all remember William Jefferson, the guy under investigation for bribery. The one that was bribed with $100,000 and $90,000 of which was found in his freezer. So Nancy Pelosi who wants to be shown as running the "most ethical Congress in history" strips him of his position on a tax committee.

So what does she turn around and do? She puts him on a committed for homeland security.

"It sends a terrible message," King, R-N.Y., said Friday. "They couldn't trust him to write tax policy, so why should he be given access to our nation's top secrets or making policy for national defense?"

It also shows that the Democrats aren't interested in corruption. They love to point fingers at the GOP about each corrupt member, and each corrupt member rightfully stepped down and was sent to jail.

Democrats, I can't stress this enough, if you think you're going to get away with skeletons in your closets after you finger pointed for YEARS, you better think again. Shady land deals, bribery, double standards, it's all going to come out into the open. The only difference is that when it happens to Republican's, we clear out our own house of the corruption and they go to jail, they don't get promoted into a position of trust when they don't deserve it.

    "Hillary Could Win"

An incredibly naive article stating how "Hillary could win". Well no kidding, I "could win" if I wanted to run. It's just a matter of if she has the votes to win, which I don't think she does. She has too many negatives and has her husband as a liability. If I were a betting man, I'd bet Barack Obama would get the DNC's nomination.

    Reid: Iraq "Worst Blunder"

Oh I don't know Harry, perhaps the foreign policy of your fellow Democrat Bill Clinton's policy of "not doing enough or doing nothing about global terrorism" seems to rank pretty high in my book. There's been nothing but example of example of Clinton doing little or nothing about threats against the US.

But let's not bring that up shall we? It's not like Democrats ever point fingers of blame. There's going to be mistakes made in anything we do. We're human and we make mistakes all the time. Sometimes those mistakes lead directly to the deaths of human beings around the world. But if you want to point a finger at mistakes of the Bush administration, let's point fingers at what "could have been" with the Clinton administration.

Democrats say in their campaign speeches that they want to work together with Republicans on a variety of issues, but it's pretty clear that all they want is to be back in power, not solve America's problems.

    Hillary Wants 90 Day Withdrawal

So this is how she wants to be seen as? A coward who runs in the face of a real fight? She says she won't apologize for her vote to authorize the Iraq war, and that she's only criticizing the way the war is being run. Fair enough, but how about you offer your own suggestions Hillary instead of just wanting to pack up and leave these people to the wolves?

General's have already stated that us leaving will be disastrous and will embolden terrorists and their supporters on our will to fight. They are proving that right in Hillary's and most Democrat's case.

    More Proof "Surge" Is Working

Interesting how when the gloves come off and our guys get reinforcements, how violence seems to go down significantly. So, will the Democrats be against this as well? There are people alive today because of the actions that our soldiers and our President are taking.

Iraqi PM Says Things Going Well

Hmm..you'd think getting this sort of news would be on the front page of every news organization in the country. The guy who's on the ground and can say first hand how things are going is saying things are working out well. I wonder if Democrats will see this as a "vast conspiracy" against their troop increase opposition?

Pelosi: Bush Can't Act As Commander In Chief

Did this girl actually read the Constitution before she was elected? Does she not understand that the President has authority over the military and can order strikes where and when it's deemed necessary? What's worse is that she's being two faced about it and actually admits it:

Pelosi, D-Calif., noted that Bush consistently said he supports a diplomatic resolution to differences with Iran "and I take him at his word."

Well if you take him at his word, then why do you need to do political grandstanding in the public and undermine him at every turn Congresswoman Pelosi?

Granted Bush has taken a beating in the public view latel
y, and he's been a bit too quiet about it for my tastes, but I'm glad that he's finally waking up to it and saying something about it:

"This may become the first time in the history of the United States Congress that it has voted to send a new commander into battle and then voted to oppose his plan that is necessary to succeed in that battle," the president said.

The Senate unanimously confirmed Lt. Gen David Petraeus last week to take over as the top U.S. commander in Iraq.

Bush said it best: "Defending U.S. intelligence that has pinpointed Iran as a hostile arms supplier in Iraq, Bush said, "Does this mean you're trying to have a pretext for war? No. It means I'm trying to protect our troops."

Added Rep. Geoff Davis, R-Ky., a West Point graduate who was a flight commander with the Army's 82nd Airborne: "This nonbinding resolution serves no purpose other than pacifying the Democrats' political base and lowering morale in our military."

Exactly my point. Congressman Davis nailed it right on the head.

When his turn came to speak, Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas., said, "There is a better way of protecting our troops than sending more of them to be killed."

Really Congressman Doggett? Well if there is a way, we're all ears. Anything? Hello? Is this thing on? The problem is that Democrats time and time again show that they are full of fluff and bring nothing to the table in terms of real solutions.

There's concrete evidence that Iran is supplying insurgents with advanced weapons and explosives, but Democrats don't seem to give a shit about it. They say they support the troops, but where's the evidence of that? Where's the Democrats stating "the sniper rifles found on insurgents is bullshit and I want those who are responsible for it found and punished". The problem is that you won't find any. They are cowards in the face of an enemy and want to do nothing but blame America for the worlds problems.

    Federal Agents Conduct Raid

So Federal agents launched a raid against Lou Perlman, most famous for creating boy bands N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys. If ever there was a case for the death penalty, this is it. Not for the crimes that the agents are investigating, but for creating these musical monsters. :)
